Irey takes medallist honors at Talamore
AMBLER, Pa.– Roc Irey, 53, from Cedarbrook CC carded a one-over 72 at Talamore at Oak Terrace CC (par 71, 6,715 yards) to capture medallist honors at the eastern qualifier for the Pennsylvania Middle-Amateur Championship. The Championship will be held September 26-27 at the CC of York.
Irey carded two birdies and two bogies to go out in even-par 35. He finished with a bogey on No. 18 (par 5, 501 yards) to reach his one-over-par total.
Talamore proved to be a tough test as only one player managed an under-par 9 hole score. Doug Schroer started out hot with a two-under 33 but he was unable to keep the momentum going as he finished with a 76.
Scott Klee, RiverCrest GC & Preserve, finished second with a two-over 74 while Art Kania, Jr. from Overbrook GC finished third with a three-over 75.
All in all 45 players qualified for the Championship. The field of 132 will be set after Tuesday's qualifier at Dauphin Highlands GC in Harrisburg. The Middle Amateur is for players 25-years of age and above.
