FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. – Michael Kania of Overbrook Golf Club and Patrick Welsh of Huntingdon Valley Country Club both carded 3- under 69’s to lead the 57th Pennsylvania Boys Junior Championship at Penn National Golf Club. Kania carded 5 birdies and 2 bogeys on the 6,972 yard, par 72 Founders Course. Kania, who finished 16th last year, had 25 putts, including a 30ft birdie putt on the par 5, 7th hole. Welsh also carded 5 birdies and 2 bogeys. Welsh finished strong with birdies on his last two holes. Cory Siegfried of Philadelphia Country Club and Robert Galbreath of Philmont Country Club are tied for third two shots back.
Zachary Herr of Jericho National Golf Club leads the 12-13 year old age group by four shots after carding a 2 over par 74. Herr holds a 4 shot lead heading into the second round.
The 2nd round will begin Tuesday morning at 7 am on the Iron Forge Course.
