The Pennsylvania Golf Association introduced a Father & Son Championship for the first time in 2010. The event is 36-holes of stroke play over two days of competition. Two 18-hole stipulated rounds.

Chapman format: both players hit their drives on the tee, for the second shot player A hits player B’s ball and player B hits player A’s ball, for the third shot the players select which ball they would like to play and play alternately until the ball is holed.

The scoring will be traditional gross and net scoring. Gross and net awards will be presented. Net competition will be based on a team combined handicap; 60% of lower handicap and 40% of higher handicap. There will be three flights Junior (Sons 17 & Under), Amateur (Sons 18 & up) and Senior (Fathers 55 & up).  Teams choosing to play in Junior or Senior division; both players will play from approx. 6000 yards. Players aged 18 & up and fathers under the age of 55, play approx. 6500 yards.

Open to amateur father and son teams (biological, grandparent,adopted or a stepson), of which one member of a team must be a member of a club belonging to the Pennsylvania Golf Association or an individual member of the Pennsylvania Golf Association and who have a USGA Handicap Index. If the other player has a verifiable USGA handicap, the team may compete for net prizes; otherwise, they will be restricted to the gross competition only.

NOTE: A father or son may NOT compete twice in the competition with either a son or father.
Limited to 160 entries (80 teams). Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. on the entry closing date. Entry fee for the Father-Son is $300 (150/person), which must accompany entry.
Players who have been accepted as participants in Pennsylvania Golf Association championships will receive event information concerning course assignment, practice rounds, pairings, and starting times approximately 10 days prior to the event. If you have not received your information seven days prior to the event, it is your responsibility to contact the Pennsylvania Golf Association. Information can also be found at
 Starting Times
Depending on field size, the first round will be played with morning and afternoon tee time waves. On day two, Second round pairings will be determined by first round scores. Junior and Senior Flights will start first on day two.
 Caddie & Cart
Carts are MANDATORY at the request of the host club. Cart fee of $35/player/day will be collected during time of entry.

Prizes will be awarded to the Overall Gross and Net winners as well as Gross and Net winners for each flight.
In the event of a tie for the Father & Son Championship Gross prize in any division, there will be a sudden-death playoff immediately following the conclusion of play.
The winners of the Amateur Flight (Overall Championship) will have their names engraved on The Davis Cup, named for Mr. William R. Davis, Jr., of Chambersburg CC, and his son Mike Davis, of the USGA.

Practice round fee: $55/player includes cart and range usage.
Method of payment: Reciprocal club charge back, or Check or Cash. CVGC does NOT accept Credit Card payments.

Will be open approximately one hour prior to the first starting time.
Please be at your starting tee at least ten minutes prior to your starting time
 Food & Beverage
Lunch is included in entry fee and will be provided for all players on each day of competition. Additional food and beverage purchases will be available in the clubhouse and halfway house.
