HAVERTOWN, Pa. - After two complete rounds at the 109th Pennsylvania Golf Association (PAGA) Open, the third and final round is shaping up to be a dramatic one. 46 players made the cut and advanced to Wednesday's final round at Llanerch Country Club, led by a pair tied at six-under-par: Patrick Sheehan (Talamore CC) and roune one co-leader Anthony Sebastianelli (Rolling Green GC). Sheehan, the reigning PAGA Player of the Year, was even-par after round one but fired a 64 on Tuesday that included eight birdies and a 31 on the back nine. Sabastianelli put together a solid round for the second consecutive day, with birdies on holes No. 3, 8, 12, and 16 to finish with a two-under 68. "It was a fun one," said Sabastianelli. "Stressful, to say the least. Didn't hit it the best all day and my ball striking wasn't there but I made a lot of four-to-five foot putts for par. I drove it well, which definitely helps out here with these types of fairways. It wasn't easy but it was a good one. In his career, Sabastianelli has two Top-5 Open finishes to his name (in 2019 and 2021) as well as a pair of Top-10's (in 2022 and 2024.) He and Sheehan will play in Wednesday's final group, which is scheduled to tee off at 10:33 AM. "Tonight I'll just relax and then tomorrow, just try to play some boring golf again," said Sabastianelli. "I've been doing it the last two days. Just trying to take my chances when they come, play away from some pins, and then going at some others. It's gotten me here. It'll be nice to play with Sheehan tomorrow and watch someone hit it 100 yards by me all day, but I'm really looking forward to it. It's my first time being tied for the lead in the Open before and we'll go try to win it tomorrow." The other final twosome includes 2023 PAGA Player of the Year Calen Sanderson (Jericho National GC) and Braden Shattuck (Rolling Green GC), who both fired a four-under 66 to sit one stroke back of the leaders at five-under for the week. Shattuck played a mistake-free back nine featuring five of his six birdies, including four straight from holes 15 to 18. "I hit it good overall and gave myself a bunch of six-footers in a row to make the four birdies," said Shattuck. "I left a couple out there but who doesn't? The greens were tricky and I had a hard time judging speed on the long putts--some seemed really fast uphill and some seemed slow. I had a couple three putts out there, but overall, it was a pretty solid round." Plenty of other competitors are still within reach. Defending champion and round one co-leader Jake Sollon (Valley Brook CC) is tied for fifth with Nick Werner (Huntsville Golf Club) at four-under, just two strokes behind. Ryan Tall (LuLu CC) and Eric Beringer (Sunnybrook GC) are tied for seventh at three-under, while a quartet of players are tied for ninth at two-under: Andrew Mason (Huntingdon Valley CC), Riley Wheeldon (Aronimink GC), J.F. Aber (Allegheny CC), and Andrew Cornish (Green Valley CC). The Pennsylvania Golf Association would like to thank the staff and membership of Llanerch Country Club for the hospitality shown during today's rounds. Additional thanks go to DICK’S Sporting Goods for sponsorship of the event as the title sponsor of the PAGA.
