CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The final event of the 2025 Pennsylvania Golf Association (PAGA) schedule, the 5th Women's and 18th Men's Senior Amateur Match Play Championship at Chambersburg Country Club, has already featured excellent play from some of the summer's most successful players from around the state. Defending champion and top seed Rick Stimmel (Connoquenessing Country Club), who has also claimed three other PAGA titles in 2025, advanced to tomorrow's semifinals in the Senior Division with wins over No. 16 Daniel Yates (USGA/GAP GC), 5 & 4, and No. 8 Mike Fagan (Whitemarsh Valley Country Club), 5 & 4. A spectacular semifinal awaits Stimmel next, where he will face No. 4 Jeff Frazier (Carlisle Country Club) -- who picked up a 3 & 2 win over No. 13 Jeff Hudson (Olde Homestead Golf Club) in the morning and squeaked past 12-seed John Olszewski (Wyoming Valley Country Club) after 21 holes in the afternoon. Stimmel and Frazier have combined to finish as either runner-up or champion in the last four Senior Amateur Championships (Stimmel as champion in '24 and runner up in '23, with Frazier as '22 champ and runner-up in '21). On the other half of the bracket, No. 2 seed Arnie Cutrell (Greensburg Country Club) dispatched No. 15 Don Uhrig (LedgeRock Golf Club), 5 & 4, and No. 7 Pete Moran (French Creek Golf Club), 4 & 3. Cutrell will face Chris Fieger Sr. (Heidelberg Country Club) in the semifinals, the No. 6 seed who completed the bracket's only upset of the day with his victory over No. 3 seed Brian Groff, 2 & 1, in the quarterfinals. In the Super-Senior Division, No. 1 seed Glenn Smeraglio (LuLu Country Club) picked up two victories, including 5 & 4 over No. 8 Scott Christie (West Shore Country Club) in the quarterfinals. Smeraglio, who was the Super-Senior Division champion at this year's PAGA Art Wall Jr. Memorial Championship in early September, will face No. 12 seed Mike Farlling (Carlisle Country Club) in the semis, who upset two higher seeds on his path through the bracket. Farlling survived past No. 5 Tom Hyland (Moselem Springs Golf Club) after being tied through 18 holes, then added another close win, 1-up, over No. 4 James Gavaghan (Commonwealth National Golf Club) in the quarterfinals. The seeds held true on the other side of the Super-Senior bracket, with No. 2 Joseph Weiscarger (Wyoming Alley Country Club) advancing 4 & 3 over No. 16 Tom White (Elmhurst Country Club) and 6 & 4 over No. 10 Bill Chase (Valley Green Golf Course.) Weiscarger earns a semifinal showdown with No. 3-seeded and 2023 Super-Senior Match Play champ Brian Rothaus, who won his matches 3 & 2 over No. 14 Byron Whitman (Berkshire Country Club) and 2-up over No. 11 J.R. Cattoni (Clinton Country Club.) The Women's Senior bracket has determined its final match for Tuesday, and it will be between two members of RiverCrest GC & Preserve, with No. 3 seed Suzi Spotleson taking on No. 5 seed Lisa Klein for the 2025 title. Spotleson, who was the PAGA Senior Match Play runner-up in 2022, advanced 7 & 6 over Jen Hopple (Chambersburg Country Club) to start the day and then defeated No. 2 seed Nicoll Keeney (Wilmington Country Club), 2 & 1, in the semifinals. Klein's road to the semifinals included victories over defending PAGA Super-Senior Player of the Year Barb Pagana (Huntsville Golf Club), 2 & 1, and No. 1 seed Louise Gebhart (Hanover Country Club), 4 & 2. The match between Klein and Spotleson is scheduled to tee off at 8:32 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Other tee times include:
