In Memory of William R. “Bill” Davis, Jr.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of William R. “Bill” Davis, Jr., formerly of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Bill was a devoted ambassador of the game of golf. He served on the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Golf Association for 14 years and was a proud member of the Chambersburg Country Club for 42 years. His dedication extended nationally as a Rules Official at several USGA championships and as a member of the USGA Senior Amateur Committee.

In 2010, the Pennsylvania Golf Association honored Bill and his son, former USGA Executive Director Mike Davis, by naming the Father/Son Championship trophy the “Davis Trophy.” This lasting tribute reflects Bill’s passion for the sport and his commitment to fostering its traditions.

Bill’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the enduring traditions he helped shape.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Davis family and friends during this difficult time.
