Krosse and Gooneratne Take Women's Four-Ball

York, PA - The team of Krosse and Gooneratne put together a round to remember. Krosse birdied holes No. 2, 3, 7, 8, and 9 to post a five-under on the front nine, then kept it going on the back with five more birdies (on 10, 11, 13, 15, and 17) to complete a round of 63--a new Country Club of York women's course record.
"I feel like after yesterday's back nine I just had a lot more confidence going into the round today and I think it showed," said Krosse. "I started off well and it went even better from there. My putting felt unstoppable, I felt unstoppable, and there wasn't really one bad shot out there."
A great microcosm of the pair's round was on the par three 17th, where Krosse missed the green while Gooneratne, who will be a freshman on the golf team at the University of Delaware in the fall, stuck it within five feet of the hole for an easy birdie putt--but never even had to attempt it--because Krosse chipped it in.
"I've never seen anything like that out there today," said Gooneratne. "It was really cool to see and fun to watch. I was just so confident in her abilities I knew she was going to make putts before she did. I wasn't mad about how I played but seeing her out there was amazing and I'm really happy overall with how today went."
The teams behind Krosse and Gooneratne had solid rounds, with the pair of Charley Kirby (Royal Manchester Golf Links) and McKylie Boreman (Carlisle CC) finishing the tournament at one-over in second place and Emilee Barkley/Brooke Graham (Moselem Springs GC/Manada GC) in third place at four-over.
Both Krosse and Gooneratne should also be competing in the upcoming PAGA 62nd Junior Girls' Championship on June 23rd and 24th at Lebanon Country Club.
