ORWIGSBURG, Pa. - Qualifying for the Pennsylvania Golf Association’s (PAGA) 109th Open Championship continued this week at Radley Run Country Club on Monday with the East Region Qualifier and at Hannastown Golf Club on Thursday for the West Region Qualifier. The 2025 PAGA Open Championship is scheduled to take place on August 11-13 at Llanerch Country Club in Havertown, Pa. Monday's East qualifier advanced 20 players, led by Philadelphia Cricket Club's Shaun Mazzalupi, who fired a three-under 69 to earn medalist honors. He birdied the first hole, and locked in after a bogey on hole No. 4, playing three-under the rest of the way, including birdies on 15, 16, and 17. Thomas Young (Saucon Valley CC) finished in second place with a two-under 70, then a group of seven players all were at one-under with 71's: Cole Berry (Overbrook GC), Michael Zupi (LuLu CC), Ben Pintof (Rolling Green GC), Nicholas Gianelos (Radley Run CC), Chris Vahey (North Hills CC), Eddie Johnson (Llanerch CC), and Jordan Eck (Williamsport CC). Shilling recovered after a bogey on hole No. 1 but birdied three of the next five holes (3, 4, and 6) to right the ship. He added four more birdies on the back nine (12, 13, 14, and 17) to book his spot in the Open. Alex Turowski (Hannastown GC) finished as runner-up on his home course with a three-under 67 that included an eagle on hole No. 12, while Anthony DePietress (USGA/GAP GC) was in third place with a two-under 68. The top 5 was rounded out by Justin Griffith (Wildwood GC) and Austin Malley, who both tied for fourth with one-under 69's. 16 total players advanced from the West Region.
