2025 Pennsylvania Senior Four Ball Day 1 Recap

Scores

POTTSTOWN, Pa. – An exciting first round at the Pennsylvania Golf Association’s (PAGA) 33rd Men’s and 5th Women’s Senior Four-Ball concluded on Monday at Bellewood Country Club.

In the Men’s Senior Division (55-64), the duo of Arnie Cutrell and Bill Rosemeyer (Greensburg CC, Butler CC) combined for a five-under 66 to open up a three-stroke lead on the rest of the field. Cutrell and Rosemeyer tallied birdies on five holes, including holes No. 2, 7, 12, 15, and 18. Cutrell and Rosemeyer finished tied for third in last year’s PAGA Senior Four Ball event and chasing them is a pair of teams tied for second place at two-under: Jason Barkley and Bill Davis (Moselem Springs GC, Aronimink GC) and the Sinking Valley Country Club pairing of Greg Ferguson Sr. and Artie Fink. Also still within reach at one-under and tied for fourth place are David Blichar/David Olexson (Olde Homestead GC, Steel Club) and Bob Crnjarich/Rob Stoops (Allegheny CC, Butler CC) while Dan and Mark Lafond (Whitemarsh Valley CC, Commonwealth National GC) shot an even-par 71 and sit in sixth place.

Over in the Men’s Super Senior Division (65+), George Troutman and Bill Chase (Deer Run GC, Valley Green GC) are your leaders after round one with an impressive seven-under 64. Troutman and Chase each birdied four holes on the day and have built a four-stroke lead over some familiar names in second place. Defending champions J.R. Cattoni and Ben Cook (Clinton CC, Bucknell GC) finished the day at three-under, thanks in large part to a Cook hole-in-one on the par-three 14th hole. Also tied for second are 2022 PAGA Senior Four-Ball champs Don Donatoni and Brian Rothaus (Hershey’s Mill GC, Five Ponds), with Donatoni birdieing holes No. 2, 3, 4, and 18 and Rothaus adding birdies on 2 and 11 to help the cause. Fourth place belongs to Don Erickson III and Joe Corsi (Indiana CC, Ligonier CC) at two-under, while three teams are tied for fifth place at one-under: Lulu CC’s Glenn Smeraglio and Christopher Clauson, Carlisle CC’s Mike Farlling and Kit Conner, as well as Steven Lucas and Michael Quinn (PAGA Individual Member, Philadelphia Publinks.)

The Women’s Senior Four-Ball competition finds Lisa Klein and Suzi Spotleson (Rivercrest GC & Preserve) ahead by two strokes after shooting an even-par 71 in the first round. Two teams are still within striking distance though, as Lisa Day and Allison Long (Honeybrook Golf Club) shot a two-over 73 and the pair of Louise Gebhart and Barb Pagana (Hanover CC, Huntsville GC) are at three-over with a 74.

Play continues in all three divisions with the final round on Tuesday, August 26 from Bellewood. Tee times begin at 8:00 a.m., with the final groups scheduled to tee off at 9:36 a.m.

The Pennsylvania Golf Association would like to thank the staff and membership of Bellewood Country Club for the hospitality shown during today’s rounds. Additional thanks go to DICK’S Sporting Goods for sponsorship of the event as the title sponsor of the PAGA.
