First set of qualifiers reach ’26 Pa. Amateur at Oakmont For the second consecutive year Huntsville Golf Club’s Cael Ropietski used the challenging track at Elmhurst Country Club to earn his spot in the Pennsylvania Amateur Championship. Ropietski was one of only six players under par, all at one under, at the end of the day to claim one of the 12 coveted spots for the 113th edition of the state’s amateur championship at renowned Oakmont Country Club July 27-29, 2026. The Marshall University product recorded three straight birdies on holes 9, 10 and 11 to jolt his round in the right direction and added another at the par three 15th to finish in red numbers. He was joined there by Jason Radic (Colonial Golf and Tennis Club), Dane Mohap (Lehigh Country Club), Cade Kelleher (Country Club of Scranton) and a pair of Williamsport Country Club members, Logan McGinn and Jordan Eck. Radic, McGinn and Eck all registered three birdies on their inward nines to tie for medalist honors while McGinn used an eagle on the par-five sixth hole toward his total and Kelleher gave himself room by getting all the way to three under through 13 holes before closing out his round to tie at the top. Evan Eichenlaub (Saucon Valley Country Club) and Hunter Probst (Wilkes-Barre Golf Club) finished a stroke back of the leaders at even par. Andrew Bilson (Bent Creek Country Club), Marco Nieto (Glenmaura National Golf Club), Luca Kleinschmidt (The Springhaven Club) and the reigning Golf Association of Philadelphia Player of the Year and member of Pennsylvania’s U.S. National Development Team Charlie Barrickman (Radley Run Country Club) all posted one-over 73s to earn their spots at Oakmont. Today’s event was the first of six qualifiers for the Pa. Amateur. All Pennsylvania Golf Association state championship events and qualifiers are sponsored by DICK’S Sporting Goods. |
