Qualifying for the Pennsylvania Golf Association’s (PAGA) 113th Amateur Championship continued on Tuesday at Green Oaks Country Club, with nine total players from the West Region earning spots in the prestigious field. The 2026 Amateur Championship is scheduled to take place on July 27-29 at Oakmont Country Club.
Tuesday’s group from the West Region was led by Tim Novic of Southpointe Golf Club, who fired a three-under 67 to finish two strokes clear of the rest of the qualifiers. His round featured six birdies, with four on the front nine, and a bogey on hole No. 12 was the only rough spot in an otherwise solid back nine that featured birdies on 13 and 16.
Tied for second with one-under 69’s were Drew Deimel (Kahkwa Club) and Michael Gielarowski (Longue Vue Club). Deimel recovered well after an early double bogey on 5, birdieing the next two holes and adding three more (on 11, 14, and 18.) Gielarowski fired a three-under 32 on his front nine (birdies on 1, 5, and 8), but bogeyed a trio of holes on the back nine before adding another birdie on 17 to clinch his spot in next month’s Championship.
Joining the top three are six additional players that carded even-par 70’s:
Garrett Browning (Chartiers Country Club) Anthony DePietress (USGA/GAP GC) Nick Sorkin (Sewickley Heights Golf Club) Chris Sabol (WPGA) Kyle Grube (Indiana Country Club) Phillip Pedano (Lawrence Park Golf Club)
Next up for the PAGA is another pair of Amateur Championship qualifiers, with the Central Region taking place at Chambersburg Country Club on Monday, June 22 and the East Region at LuLu Country Club on Thursday, June 25.
