8th Parent/Child and 17th Father/Son Preview

Experienced pairs headline Father/Son Parent/Child fields

Tough experienced teams at the top will highlight the 17th Pennsylvania Golf Association’s (PAGA) Father/Son competition. That championship, along with the 8th Parent/Child tournament, is set for Westmoreland Country Club, in Export, Pa. July 13-14, 2026. The event is scheduled for 36 holes over the two days and is presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods.

Five pairs of former champions highlight the Father/Son field. The most recent winners were Mike and Mick Farling of Carlisle Country Club. They captured the 2024 title with a pair of 68s to win by five shots at Heidelberg Country Club. The Farlings outdistanced second-place finishers Tom and Andy Porsch (Country Club of Harrisburg). The Porsch duo, also entered this season, won the 2019 title at Old Bedford Springs coming from two shots back entering the second day to win.

Grayson and James Wingerter (Llanerch Country Club) will seek their third title in the last six years. That pair won the 2021 championship and repeated the feat, taking the 2023 top spot at Toftrees Golf Resort. Other past champions entered are Jim Hughes playing with James Hughes (Carlisle Country Club), the 2014 and 2016 titlist with JD Hughes, and Arnie and Arnie, Jr. Cutrell (Greensburg Country Club), the 2011 winners.

A pair of teams will enter the event with the most recent previous experience in the Parent/Child Division. The teams of Charley and Rick Kirby (Royal Manchester Golf Links) and Emilee and Jason Barkley (Moselem Springs Golf Club) finished among the top 10 teams a year ago at Chester Valley Golf Club. The Kirbys posted a tie for sixth place in the Modified Chapman format while the Barkleys were two strokes behind them for a ninth place showing.
