2026 Women?s Am Day 1 Recap

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. – A pair of players are tied for first place after the first round of the Pennsylvania Golf Association’s (PAGA) 90^th Women’s Amateur Championship at Gulph Mills Golf Club. Mary Dunigan (Kennett Square Golf & Country Club) and Jackie Rogowicz (Merion Golf Club) both shot a -3 (71) on Monday and are one stroke ahead of the rest of the field.

Dunigan, who finished 11^th in the Amateur in 2024, eagled hole No. 1 and added birdies on 7, 12, and 13 to complete her round.

“I had a lot of fun and played solid,” said Dunigan. “The greens are tricky but I was able to make some good putts every now and then. For highlights, I had a bunker shot on no. 5 where the lip was probably 12 feet above me but got it up-and-down. It was a good time out there.”

Rogowicz, the 2019 and 2022 PAGA Amateur champion who finished tied for fourth last year, rebounded from an early bogey on hole 1 and birdied 3, 8, 10, 12, and 17.

“It was a good round and I felt like I was pretty solid all day,” said Rogowicz. “I played the par threes well, and they’re pretty challenging. I putted pretty well. I’ve played here before but not with today’s yardage. Birdieing 17 was a highlight, just a long par three. I feel like I just threw in a couple birdies along the way and was just consistent.”

It’s still anyone’s tournament with two rounds left to go, and a group of five players finished Monday at -2 (72), just one stroke behind the leaders: Clare Gimpel (Whitemarsh Valley CC), Nicolette Bottos (Rolling Green GC), Kate Roberts (PAGA, Turtle Creek), Alexandra Engart (RiverCrest GC & Preserve), and 2023 PAGA Amateur champ Rylie Heflin (Bidermann G.C.)

In the Mid-Amateur Division, DuPont Country Club’s Lauren Klick sits atop the leaderboard with a +1 (75). one stroke ahead of 2025 Mid-Am runner-up Barbora Millichip (Honeybrook GC)’s +2 (76). Northampton Country Club’s Katrin Wolfe is two strokes back with a +4 (78).

It’s just as tight in the Senior Division as well, with Stephenie Harris (Philadelphia Cricket Club)’s +6 (80) leading 2023 PAGA Senior Amateur and Women’s Player of the Year Karen Siegel (Commonwealth National GC) by one stroke. Two additional players, Kimberly Garno (Merion GC) and Maureen Koerwer (Huntingdon Valley CC) shot +8 (82) and currently sit two strokes behind.

In the Super-Senior Division, Honeybrook Golf Club’s Lisa Day is your leader with a +1 (75) to open up a two-stroke advantage over both Lisa McGill (Sunnybrook GC) and three-time Super-Senior champion Barb Pagana (Huntsville GC), who both finished the day at +3 (77)

The schedule on Tuesday, July 21 includes Round 2 of 3 in the Amateur Division as well as the final rounds for the Mid-Amateur (25+), Senior (50+), and Super-Senior (65+) Divisions.
