2026 Mid-Am Qualifying

Qualifying for the Pennsylvania Golf Association’s (PAGA) 33^rd Middle-Amateur Championship began this week with three events: on Monday, Aug. 17 at Bellewood Country Club (East Region, 44 qualified players), on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at Fox Hill Country Club (Northeast Region, nine qualifiers), and on Thursday, Aug. 20 at Colonial Golf & Tennis Club (Central Region, 18 additional qualifiers.) 

The 2026 Middle-Amateur Championship is scheduled to take place on Sept. 21-22 at LedgeRock Golf Club.

Monday’s group of qualifiers from Bellewood Country Club and the East Region was led by John Murphy (Scotch Valley CC), who finished a mistake-free day at -4 (67) with birdies on holes No. 2, 5, 8, and 18. Second place belonged to Thomas Mattaini (Bent Creek CC), who carded -3 (68) with a round that featured six birdies (on 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, and 11.)

A group of four qualifiers ended at -2 (69) tied for third place and include Josh Isler (Stonewall), Conor Rinehart (St. Davids GC), DJ Pinciotti (Huntingdon Valley CC), and Vincent Scarpetta (Glenmaura National GC.)

On Wednesday at Fox Hill Country Club’s Northeast Qualifier, Fox Hill member Tyler McGarry paced the field with a -5 (66), two strokes ahead of the nearest competitor. McGarry birdied seven holes on the day, including holes No. 4, 6, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 18.

There were only two other players under par on the day – second-place Alex Anderson (Huntsville GC) at -3 (68), and third-place Glenn Iversen (Fox Hill CC) at -1 (70). Anderson remained bogey-free in his round and birdied 6, 14, and 15, while Iversen bogeyed three holes but birdied 1 and 10 in addition to sinking an eagle putt on 14.

 The final six qualifiers from the Northeast Region on Wednesday were:

 Wrapping up the week on Thursday at Colonial Golf & Tennis Club for Central Region Qualifying, Shaun Fedor (Bent Creek CC) took home medalist honors with his -4 (68), two strokes clear of the field. Avoiding trouble of any kind, Fedor birdied No. 2, 4, 5, and 11.

Second-place Corey Wenger (USGA/Gap GC) fired a -2 (70) that included birdies on 7, 10, and 15. A group of nine players tied for third place at -1 (71): Nick Geiman (Out Door CC), Marc Oliveri (Lancaster CC), Todd Mostoller (Colonial Golf & Tennis Club), Timothy Cooper (CC of Harrisburg), Zach Wagner (Armitage GC), Matt Steighner (Hershey CC), Scott Kegerreis (Chambersburg CC), Ian Patterson (Chambersburg CC), and Chris Miller (Chambersburg CC.)

The final seven qualifiers from the Central Region on Wednesday were:

 Next up on the PAGA schedule is the final Mid-Am qualifying event from the West Region, scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 25 at Nemacolin Country Club, as well as the 34^th Men’s and 6^th Women’s Senior Four-Ball Championship on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at Toftrees Golf Club.
