2026 Senior Four-ball Day 2 Recap

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Golf Association’s (PAGA) 34^th Men’s and 6^th Women’s Senior Four-Ball Championship wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon at Toftrees Golf Resort with great finishes across three divisions.

In the Men’s Senior Division (55-64), the Spring Ford Country Club duo of Brian Fisher and Jeff Wuerstle were the leaders after Monday’s first round and held on to win the division with a combined -11 (66-67-133) for the tournament. The pair birdied holes No. 1, 2, 7, 8, and 14 on the final day.

Behind them, two teams finished tied for second place at -8 (136) for the week: Elkview Country Club’s Ken Bolcavage/John Pash and Jason Barkley/Bill Davis (Moselem Springs GC/Aronimink GC).

Three teams finished tied for fourth place at -7 (137) and included Greg Ferguson Sr./Artie Fink (Scotch Valley CC/Sinking Valley CC), Tom McCartney/David Myers (Nittany CC/Toftrees Golf Resort), and defending champions Bob Crnjarich/Rob Stoops (Butler CC/Allegheny CC).

In the Men’s Super Senior Division (65+) it took six playoff holes to determine a winner. Round 1 leaders Michael Vassil and Byron Whitman (Berkshire Country Club, The Country Club of Scranton) defeated Ron Hinish/Jeff Hovanec (Hannastown GC/Iron Masters CC) after a marathon day that saw both pairs finish the day at -8 (136). Hinish and Hovanec fired a 66, the lowest round of the week in the division, and shot up the leaderboard thanks to birdies on 2, 3, 9, 12, 15, and 17 to force the playoff. Vassil and Whitman survived to win the title on the sixth playoff hole, the second of Vassil’s career after previously winning the division in 2023.

Carlisle Country Club’s Mike Farlling and Ed Short took third place in the Super-Senior Division at -6 (69-69—138) with 2024 champions JR Cattoni/Ben Cook (Williamsport CC/ Bucknell GC) in fourth at -5 (69-70—139). Tim and William Chase (Valley Green/Punxsutawney CC) rounded out the top five with a -4 (70-70—140) for the week.

The Women’s Senior Four-Ball competition also had wire-to-wire winners, with Honeybrook Golf Club’s Lisa Day and Allison Long, last year’s runner-ups, fending off a late charge by Stephenie Harris and Monica Anne Pedano (Spring Ford CC/Huntingdon Valley CC) to win the 2026 championship. Day and Long posted a -1 (69-74—143) for the week, while Harris and Pedano were just a stroke behind at even par after carding an impressive 68 in the final round, the lowest round of the week for any team in the division.

Third place in the Senior Women’s Four-Ball went to the pairing of Louise Gebhart and Missy Wietlisbach (Gulph Mills GC/Hanover CC), who finished the week at +5 (77-72—149).
