2026 PA Mid-am Day 1 Recap

MOHNTON, Pa. – The first round of the Pennsylvania Golf Association's (PAGA) 33rd Middle-Amateur Championship is complete from LedgeRock Golf Club, with a pair of players tied for the lead after shooting five-under 67's: LedgeRock’s own Zach Dilcher and Brock Kovach.

Dilcher, who won the PAGA Mid-Am in 2023 and finished tied for third place in 2025, was -1 on the front nine after a birdie on 7. He started the back nine with a bogey on 10 but then rattled off five birdies to close his round (on holes No. 12, 14, 15, 16, and 18.)

Kovach tied for sixth place at last summer’s Mid-Amateur and put together a bogey-free round on Monday, with birdies on 2, 6, 8, 11, and 15 to put him in great position heading into Tuesday’s final round.

As seems to be a frequent occurrence in the PAGA Mid-Am, there are plenty of other competitors within a couple of strokes of the leaders. Josh Isler (Stonewall) and Jason Li (Sewickley Heights Golf Club) are tied for third place at -4 (68). Isler birdied five holes (3, 4, 6, 13, and 16) before a bogey on 17 dropped him a stroke behind the leaders, Li was +2 at the turn after bogeys on 3 and 6 and a birdie on 7 – but birdied 10, 12, 13, 16, and 18 on the back to remain in reach.

Tied for fifth place at -3 (69), two strokes back, is another LedgeRock player, Nick Fioravante, as well as Rick Stimmel (Connoquenessing Country Club), who is fresh off a Senior Division victory at last week’s PAGA Art Wall Jr. Memorial Championship.

Rounding out the top 10 are four players tied for seventh at -2 (70): Todd Reedy (Heidelberg CC), Ambrose Abbracciamento (USGA/GAP GC), Brandon Raihl (Philadelphia Cricket Club), and Aaron Fricke (LuLu Country Club.)

Play continues with tomorrow's final round, with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the leaders scheduled to tee off at 1:35 p.m.
